Oh my goodness, another impossible question.

I could go on forever and ever about why I love Fire Emblem, I swear, but I think it all comes down to the fact that to me, the Fire Emblem games feel like home.

They weren’t the first games I played by any means. I’ve grown up on computer games, and although I went from my first system being a Gameboy to a DS and then a Wii and I haven’t been able to appreciate some of the more classic games as much as you have, I feel like video games are a really important part of me as a person, and the Fire Emblem games are the first whole series I loved and legitimately wanted to play all the way through.

After that, I can’t even explain why they’re some of my favorite games. i’m sure it’s the characters, most of which are extremely developed, and even those who aren’t are somehow appealing in some way or another. Then there are the plots, that aren’t always so complex, but are still engaging no matter which play-through you’re on. Then there’s the fact that this game isn’t anywhere near mindless- each move you make on the battlefield may not have an effect on the plot, but you can easily lose characters, making most of the games very difficult as well.

I think one of my favorite aspects of the game though, is the support conversations. It’s like you actually have a real say in the game, which is also why I love being able to choose which units you want to take into battle and train. The special endings give you even more reasons to replay the games over and over again, as if all the others weren’t enough.

But now, as if I didn’t have ENOUGH reasons to love these games, there’s this awesome fandom that I’ve found only recently, and I’m honestly so glad I did. There may not be too many of us, but in a way I like that better, because even though there’s drama and stupidity, it sort of feels like an extended family. So thank you Fire Emblem fandom for making me love these games even more, and thank you Intelligent Systems for making awesome games in the first place. (:
